Don’t Let Storm Damage Go Undetected

National Restoration North Carolina Don’t Let Storm Damage Go Undetected

We certainly see our share of storms, hail, heavy rains and wind! Between 1980 and August of 2023, North Carolina has been affected by 111 billion-dollar disaster events (29 Tropical Cyclones, 48 Severe Storms, 16 Winter Storms, 3 Freezes, 2 Wildfires, 12 Droughts, and 1 Flooding event.) It’s so important to know if your property was affected by storm damage as soon as possible after a major weather event. Damage from hail, hurricanes, tornadoes, wind, water, floods, and storms cause severe damage.

At National Restoration North Carolina (NRNC), we provide 24/7 emergency services, roofing, restoration and remediation services to homeowners and businesses throughout Union, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Stanly, Anson, Davidson, and Catawba Counties.

Don’t Let Storm Damage Go Undetected

Often, property owners are not even aware that they have damage. Early detection can save you time, money, and protect the structural integrity of your home or business. Damage from hail, wind, and rain is often invisible from the ground. If damage goes undetected, you may get severe roof leaks, exterior and interior leaks, mold, rotting exteriors, damaged floorboards and walls, rodent intrusion, and even more costly repairs. Small problems left unattended can escalate into major issues that require extensive repairs or even a full roof replacement. Routine inspections and prompt repairs can help you catch and address problems while they are still manageable and less costly. Also, if you miss your deadline to file your claim, your insurance company may not cover the costs of repairs. In North Carolina, the state statute is 3 years.

Free Storm Damage Inspections

If we find storm-related damage that may be covered by your insurance, we provide a scope of work, documentation, photos, aerial drone footage, thermal IR and/or Matterport imagery for your insurance claim process. It’s important to obtain an expert, professional inspection before filing so you have a professional assessment and necessary documentation for your claim.

  • Roofing: We inspect your entire roofing system for damage. Sometimes, signs of damage are obvious from the ground, such as a fallen tree, easily visible loose or missing shingles, metal pieces displaced around your chimney, damaged roof valleys, etc. More often, the damage is not so obvious.
  • Exteriors & Siding: As a Licensed General Contractor, we assess and replace damaged siding, gutters, and all elements related to your storm damage. Signs of damage vary by type of siding and it’s important to report any damage you had prior to the storm event.
  • Gutters and Downspouts: Downspouts are typically more damaged on the side of the home in the direction of the storm, while the gutters often receive the worst damage on the side opposite the storm. These are also an important element of your inspection to ensure all damage is identified and documented for your insurance claim.
  • Fascia and Soffits: Many homeowners typically try to repair the soffits themselves, but this can cause more damage and often needs to be redone by a professional. Painted fascia and soffits may be chipped if they are storm damaged, exposing the wood. The metal and PVC may dent just like gutters if they are exposed to hail. While soffits are typically not damaged by hail, they can be severely damaged by wind.
  • Skylights & Chimneys: These are also an important element of your inspection to ensure all damage is identified and documented for your insurance claim.
